Flor Hernandez Zarate

Prevention Specialist

“I believe in the power of communities- especially those that have been marginalized- they often are the most ready for change.”

Flor Hernandez Zarate (she/her) is a Prevention Specialist for Partnerships 4 Success, a program that aims to address health inequities present in the Latine/x communities of the southern and border regions of San Diego. Flor graduated from UC San Diego with a double major in Literature/Writing and Political Science with a concentration in Public Law. She began grassroots organizing during the summer of 2020 due to the movement to address racial injustice, which led to the confounding of grassroots organizations, The Central Coast Organization and Abolitionist Action Central Coast/SLO. Her work has since concentrated on amplifying the needs of Black, Indigenous, and communities of color. Outside of her advocacy, Flor enjoys reading, embroidery, and taking long walks that sometimes end at the beach.
