Iridian Vazquez

Community Organizer

“I value community building as it’s helped me get where I am today. I aspire to support underrepresented communities with my lived experiences and resources to strengthen and better support one another.”

Iridian Vazquez (she/her/ella) is a Community/Youth Organizer for the South Bay and East County regions in San Diego. Iridian, the first in her family to attend a University, graduated from San Diego State with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in 3 departments; Social Work, Public Administration, and Political Science, along with a Chicana/o Studies Minor. During her academic career, she was actively involved with MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlan), an on-campus organization where she learned skills and gained experience in community and youth organizing through various leadership roles, all in efforts to build political consciousness and promote higher education.

Iridian believes in the importance of organizing with underrepresented communities to build ethical living conditions and improve access to resources. As Iridian continues to learn, she strives to raise awareness of existing social and systemic barriers to promote critical thinking skills.
