“I don’t work directly with the public, constituents, clients, or patients. My work is done behind the scenes. Working every day for a nonprofit allows me to help those that are in the front lines give all their best without having them worry about the minutiae of the organizations’ fiscal responsibility.”
Luz Toscano joined IPS in 2019. She has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit accounting. She began her career as the Accounting Manager at the American Cancer Society (ACS), where she learned how this devastating disease touches almost everyone, directly or indirectly. After 10 years at ACS, Luz moved to Serving Seniors, where she was the Finance Manager in charge of all their financial accounting and payroll. After ACS, Luz joined the San Diego Opera (SDO) where she was the Accounting Manager for 14 years, in charge of all accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll for staff, and payroll for international performing artists. SDO is one of the top arts organizations in the country, and being able to attend many live performances during her time there has made Luz an opera lover for life.
