Margarita Holguin
Margarita Holguin, M.P.A. (she/her/ella), has been a leader in community health work for more than a decade. She is the founder of Consulting Solutions, LLC. Ms. Holguin is a national/international consultant. Margarita oversees community outreach programs utilizing the Promotora model meeting residents where they are to build individual and community capacity and improve health equity. Ms. Holguin was the Director for Chula Vista Community Collaborative, where she developed community programs and initiatives in support of at-risk populations. Before that, she served the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency as the Assistant Deputy Director for the County’s south region and had oversight for various programs and up to 500 staff. Margarita was also the Director of Partnership Initiatives at We Support U and led CHW community programs. She worked on capacity building with residents and led the Resident Leadership Academy.
Ms. Holguin is the founder of Consulting Solutions LLC, and has consulted at the local, national, and international level. As the principal Consultant, Ms. Holguin specializes in helping organizations, businesses, and individuals find solutions for everyday processes and challenges. She is experienced in strategic planning support, outreach and community engagement, deployment services, organizational assessment, team building, training, coaching, and much more.
Ms. Holguin was the founding Chair of San Diego County Promotores Coalition, and founder of the annual Adelante Promotores Conference. Margarita developed San Diego’s first Promotores Academy in 2009 and has trained hundreds of community health workers (CHWs)/Promotores. She was named Latina of the Year 2017 by the Adelante Mujer Conference. She developed San Diego County’s CHW training and a CHW Health Services Academy.
Margarita is a National Diabetes Prevention Program–certified coach. She draws from her lived experiences as an immigrant who grew up on public assistance and experienced the impact of social determinants of health. Her passion is working in the community and making a difference every day.
Margarita received a bachelor’s degree in management and graduated magna cum laude. She also has a master’s degree in public administration.
