Genessis Salcedo

Prevention Specialist

“Each and every person can be a changemaker. Nacimos para romper cadenas—we were born to break chains.”

Genessis (she/ella) is the Prevention Specialist for the High Desert Project. Born and raised in the High Desert, she felt compelled to come back in hopes of creating lasting positive change. Genessis earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychological and Brain Sciences with a minor in LGBTQ+ studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara. While attending UCSB, she found her queer family through community efforts to re-establish the campus’ only intersectional Queer and Trans* Latine organization. In her final year, Genessis dedicated her time to advocacy and feminist education at the UCSB Women’s Center as a student programmer. These experiences reinforced her passion for equity, community building, and breaking generational cycles. She firmly believes in giving back to the people and places that shaped you. Genessis loves her cat, dancing with loved ones, and switching up her weekly playlists.
