Jennifer Lagunas Garcia
Youth Coordinator
“Understanding the unique needs of each community and its members, I am driven by the belief that true change comes from recognizing and addressing the intersectionality of social and environmental issues. It is through this lens that I strive to create lasting results and positive change in the world.”
Jennifer Lagunas Garcia is the Youth Program Coordinator for the Elevate Youth California program. Born and raised in San Diego, Jennifer has experienced the need to provide equitable access to resources to help youth and Latinx communities prosper. She graduated from CSU Monterey Bay with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a minor in Nonprofit Management. Jennifer has a strong background in environmental justice work and community engagement. Throughout her academic career, Jennifer focused on community work and environmental justice, particularly with agricultural workers in the Salinas Valley and Pajaro Valley, helping create a sense of belonging for residents and supporting their efforts to advocate for clean water and government assistance after climate disasters. During her past internship, she worked with the San Diego community to facilitate outdoor experiences for students in areas lacking green spaces, emphasizing the importance of connecting with communities and building strong, trusting relationships. In her free time, she loves to explore the outdoors, listen to music, and spend time with friends and family.
