Michael Leggett

Youth Coordinator

“The reason I am so dedicated to this kind of work is I wish to provide the underserved youth with the voice that my peers wish they had. I want to meet the underserved communities where they are and give them the support and voice they need to make a change.”

Michael graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology, and has dedicated his post grad career to youth mental health. Michael participated in a research project with the UCLA Culture and Race/Ethnicity in Youth Mental Health lab, and decided to move from the lab to working with the communities he studied and apply what he learned to uplifting underserved and minority communities. Eventually, Michael plans on taking the experience gained from this position to his rural hometown in Northern California to serve his underrepresented Native American community. Michael plans to immerse himself in the San Diego community, and to develop strong and sustainable partnerships with community members to support youth in their calls to action. In his downtime, Michael enjoys hiking, exploring national parks, camping and playing Magic the Gathering
