From the Start: Understanding the Social Determinants of Health
Wednesday, August 20, 2025
ABOUT:
Health begins long before a medical visit; in our homes, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods. This free webinar will explore how the social determinants of health (SDOH), including housing, transportation, education, food access, and community safety, shape individual and community well-being.
Through a prevention and equity lens, the session will examine how these conditions contribute to health disparities and offer strategies for addressing them through policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) change.
Topics covered will include:
- A foundational overview of the social determinants of health
- Mapping the link between social conditions and health inequities
- The importance of upstream prevention approaches
- Strategies to advance health equity through PSE change
This webinar is designed for public health professionals, prevention practitioners, community organizers, and advocates working to improve community health outcomes.
