Trusted Messenger Network
As part of California’s Trusted Messenger Network (TMN), IPS carried out a large-scale outreach and engagement initiative in Los Angeles and San Diego counties to ensure immigrant communities received information on key state health priorities, including extreme heat preparedness, COVID-19 vaccination and boosters, and Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) programs.
Many Spanish-speaking, Asian-language, and mixed-status households face significant barriers to accessing public health guidance, including limited English proficiency and deep historic mistrust of government systems. TMN outreach was designed to close those gaps.
Through canvassing, community events, trainings, one-on-one conversations, and partnerships with local organizations, IPS conducted thousands of engagements, helping residents understand heat mitigation strategies, know COVID safety and vaccination options, and access resources that support financial and household stability.
Our TMN outreach strengthened our local partnerships and reinforced our commitment to advancing health equity for immigrant populations, making essential public health information accessible to the communities that need it most.
