Gabriel Rojas

Community Engagement Coordinator

“The work I do always starts with those around me. Without my experiences I wouldn’t be able to do what I love and help those who need it. Learning from our survival and applying that to our current fight will take us where we need to go.”

Gabey Rojas is the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Smoke-free Multi-Unit Housing and Outdoor Areas initiatives in Los Angeles County, serving the cities of Alhambra, Pico Rivera, Montebello, and Whittier. A San Diego native, Gabey made his way to LA where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in International Development Studies and Communications from UCLA. It was there that his passion for community work cemented his future as an advocate and champion for the communities he loves.

Throughout his professional journey he has dedicated his life to helping populations that he has a personal connection to, including folks experiencing houselessness and those impacted by mass incarceration. He continues this mission within IPS assisting those experiencing issues with substance abuse. As someone who grew up around various substance users, the ability to educate and bring awareness to issues such as Tobacco is a pleasure for him. In his free time, Gabey enjoys hiking, spending time with friends and family, and traveling the world (as far as he can get)!
