Venture Griswold
Prevention Specialist
“To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.”
Venture Griswold (they/them) is the Program Specialist serving Culver City, Santa Monica, and Venice. Their work includes building youth and adult coalitions to reduce the harm of substance abuse in local communities, equipping young people with the tools to make healthy choices around substances, and collaborating with community agencies and key stakeholders to create lasting change around substance abuse related harms. They are passionate about centering diversity, equity, and inclusion as the most important part of their work.
Venture is happy to be back working in public health and prevention work after a few years working in the theatre industry. Previously, they spent several years in community education around sexual and intimate partner violence at the local and national level, including facilitating a youth leadership team around those issues. Their degree is in International Affairs and Cultural Anthropology, from Northeastern University. When not at work, Venture can be found seeing live theatre around LA, baking treats, and reading queer books while cuddled up with their cat, Princess Mia.
