Sara Cooley Broschart

Sara Cooley Broschart has over ten years of experience as a substance abuse prevention leader at local, regional and state levels. She is currently the Public Health Liaison for the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board, where she uses her public health expertise to advise alcohol and marijuana regulators on policy and best practices as well as develops innovative methods to engage community voices in rule making activities.

Prior to that, Sara was the founding program manager of California Alcohol Policy Alliance, which acts as a prevention and public health voice on state alcohol policy issues and led a Drug Free Communities coalition in Pomona, CA. Contribution to community has shaped her career, from establishing a health network in rural Nicaragua to building a statewide alcohol policy alliance from the ground up. Sara has a master’s in Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Arizona and spent five years in a doctoral program (Cultural Anthropology) at the University of Michigan.
